Teacher Assistant / Paraprofessional / Behavioral Tech
Job Description:

The Children's Center for Neurodevelopmental Studies, in historic downtown Glendale, is looking for Teacher Assistants, Paraprofessionals, and/or Behavioral Techs to assist in our classrooms. We are an award-winning private school that serves children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. We have students who have won the statewide “Most Improved Student Award” and teachers who have won the “Special Ed Teacher of the Year Award.” We are looking for candidates who have worked with special needs children before. The ideal candidate will be motivated and physically capable (can lift over 45 lbs. and be able to move comfortably) in order to work with high behavioral individuals. Special needs experience is preferred. Must love children and have patience. Our School Shifts, which include van support are from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, or 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Pay starts at $15.00 p/h and can increase based on experience. Full time employees receive benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance, as well as holidays and PTO time. We also have work (respite and camp) available during the summertime and breaks, which makes it advantageous over the public schools. Other opportunities are also available (i.e. van drivers, van support, habilitation, respite, etc.) that can provide additional hours if you need them. College students are encouraged to apply. We have employees that have college classes in the evenings and like our morning School Program hours. Positions are available for both guys and girls. We are looking for employees that are committed to working and helping children. It is a great opportunity for those interested in learning more about special education students and how to work with children that have Autism. It’s an engaging environment where every day is a new adventure.

Duties include: Providing support services under the direct supervision of qualified Special Education Teachers. Assisting teachers in planning and preparing materials for activities. Implementing therapeutic programs under the direction of therapists. Implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans with a Behavior Specialist. Assisting students with meals, personal care issues, hygiene, social interactions and behaviors. This role is also known as an instructional assistant, teacher’s aide or classroom assistant in some public schools.

Requirements: Must have a current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (required), must have a High School diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age, must pass a background check, must be able to pass a drug test, have a CPR/First Aid card, Arizona State Driver’s license, have three written letters of reference, be willing to get training on “Article 9” and “CPI” (we can assist training).

You can respond to this posting (please attach a resume), or come by in person and apply on site at The Children’s Center, 5430 W. Glenn Dr., Glendale, 85301.
